Bulgaria needs centre-right president to stay on the European path

On Sunday 13 November, the Bulgarian people will cast their votes in the second round of presidential elections. The President of the European People’s Party (EPP), Joseph DAUL, expressed his support and wished EPP candidate Tsetska TSACHEVA, along with her running mate Plamen MANUCHEV, an electoral victory.
“After this first round of the presidential elections, I call on the Bulgarian centre-right to unite. All our member parties, which put the interest of Bulgaria first, must come together and gather behind GERB candidates Tsetska Tsacheva and Plamen Manuchev. I very much welcome the decision of the Reformist Bloc – including EPP member parties UDF and BCM – to support centre right candidate Tsacheva, and I call on Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria and its party president, Radan Kanev, to do the same. Our Bulgarian parties must show unity in order to secure a better, European future for Bulgaria’s people.
Bulgaria needs a strong president. I give my full support to Tsetska Tsacheva, nominated by Prime Minister Boyko BORISSOV and by GERB – the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria – Bulgaria’s biggest party. Tsetska Tsacheva is a hard-working two-time President of the National Assembly; she is the candidate who will deliver on her electoral promises and secure a pro-European and pro-NATO path for the country. I share with her common sense, the love for a job well done and the dedication to working on the ground and staying in direct contact with the people. Tsetska Tsacheva has pledged to work for her country’s stability, for national unity and the rule of law. All three components are much-needed in a country challenged by growing tensions with Russia, the migration crisis, poverty and corruption.
I would like to emphasise the importance of the country’s stability. The government of Boyko Borissov, GERB and centre-right parties have worked tirelessly to secure a stable, European way forward. Bulgaria is on the right path; stepping out of it would be a dangerous mistake and could have severe consequences.
Therefore, I call on centre-right Bulgarian voters to go to the polls this Sunday, 13 November and to vote for Tsetska Tsacheva and Plamen Manuchev. I am confident they are the only candidates who can secure stability and the continuation of further reforms — for a better, prosperous, pro-European future for Bulgaria’s citizens.”
