The Chair of the Committee on Regional Development, ALDE MEP Iskra Mihaylova, has put forward an oral question to the Commission accompanied by a Resolution in order to raise the delay of implementation of the European Structural and Investment Funds. The Resolution, which is going to be voted today in Plenary, calls on the Commission to set up an action plan to accelerate the implementation of ESI Funds programmes in order to maximise their impact.
ALDE MEP Iskra Mihaylova (MRF, Bulgaria) said today:
”I would like to point out that the investment of ESI funds significantly contributes to generating smart, sustainable and inclusive growth as well as to creating jobs within the European regions. But we are experiencing an enormous delay in the implementation of ESI Funds, e.g. when it comes to certifying and auditing authorities or submissions of payment applications.”
“With this Resolution, we stress the importance of taking urgent measures to accelerate their implementation in order to maximize their impact and we call on the Commission to come up with a real action plan.”
